Cohorty Free vs Plus: Which Plan Do You Need?
Compare Cohorty Free and Plus ($3/month): what each includes, who should upgrade, and a quick test to tell whether the daily session times fit your habit.
Most people should start on Cohorty Free. Joining sessions is free every day, and everything that happens inside a session (the room, notes, applause, Done) is the same on both plans. Plus ($3/month) is worth it when the daily session times don’t fit the half hour your habit needs, or when you want the same time booked every week without thinking about it.
Disclosure: Cohorty publishes this journal and sells Plus. Details as of October 2026.

Choose Free if…
- One of the daily times fits your day. If you can do your habit at one of the fixed times most days, you have everything you need.
- You’re trying Cohorty for the first time. Book a few sessions, see whether a shared room helps you start, then decide.
- You like joining whatever’s on. Times other members open appear on your calendar in gold, and you can book them for free.
Choose Plus if…
- Your habit has a time, and it isn’t one of the daily times. 6:30 before work, a lunch break, after the kids’ bedtime. Plus lets you open that half hour.
- You want the habit to book itself. A repeating booking on, say, weekdays at 7:00 means you never have to remember to book.
- You want others to be able to join you. A time you open shows on everyone’s calendar, so people with the same schedule can book it.
The detailed walkthrough is in our guide to Cohorty Plus.
A one-week test
If you’re unsure, run this test on the free plan:
- Write down the half hour when you’d ideally do your habit.
- For seven days, book the daily time closest to it.
- At the end of the week, look at your rhythm on your page.
- Mostly dark dots? The daily times work for you. Stay on Free.
- Grey dots on the days the daily time clashed with something? That’s the case for opening your own time with Plus.
- Grey dots everywhere? The time probably isn’t the problem. Make the habit smaller first, and read our guide to starting again after a broken streak.
What Plus does not change
It’s easy to expect more from a paid plan, so to be clear:
- Sessions are 30 minutes on both plans.
- The room works the same way: no camera, no chat, nicknames only.
- Plus doesn’t add statistics, badges or a public profile. Your page is private on both plans.
- Plus doesn’t guarantee company. A time you open is open to everyone, but at unusual hours you may start on your own.
Billing details
- $3 per month, cancel anytime from Settings.
- After cancelling you keep Plus until the end of the paid period. Booked sessions stay; repeating bookings stop adding new ones.
- Refunds are prorated: write to [email protected].
- If you had the older No Reset or a yearly plan, you now have Plus at the same price and billing date.

Common questions
Is Cohorty really free?
Yes. Joining sessions at the daily times, every day, is free, along with notes, applause, Done, your habits and your private page.
Is there a free trial of Plus?
The pricing page doesn’t list one. Plus is billed monthly and can be cancelled anytime, with prorated refunds, so the lowest-commitment way to try it is one month.
Can I switch back to Free?
Yes. Cancel Plus and you move to Free at the end of the paid period. Your habits, history and booked sessions stay.
